What is a Japanese font generator?
A Japanese font generator uses Unicode transformations to create visually styled versions of Hiragana, Katakana, and Kanji — kana conversion, halfwidth forms, decorative brackets, and spacing effects.

Frequently asked questions
Kana conversion, Kanji, Unicode styles, and platform compatibility.
What is a Japanese font generator?
A Japanese font generator transforms your Japanese text (Hiragana, Katakana, Kanji) into stylish Unicode variations including kana conversions, decorative brackets, spaced text, and aesthetic styles that you can copy and paste anywhere.
Can it convert Hiragana to Katakana?
Yes. The generator includes Hiragana → Katakana and Katakana → Hiragana conversion styles, as well as a halfwidth Katakana variant.
Does it work with Kanji?
Yes. Kanji characters are preserved in all styles. Decorative styles (brackets, spacing, combining marks) work perfectly with Kanji. However, there are no bold/italic Unicode variants for Kanji characters.
Why are there no bold or italic Japanese styles?
Unicode does not define mathematical bold or italic variants for Japanese characters (Hiragana, Katakana, or Kanji). Bold/italic styles only exist for Latin and Greek alphabets in Unicode. Our tool focuses on styles that actually work with Japanese text.
Can I use these styles on Instagram or TikTok?
Yes. All generated styles use standard Unicode characters that work on Instagram bios, TikTok profiles, Discord names, Twitter/X, and any platform supporting Unicode.
What is halfwidth Katakana?
Halfwidth Katakana (カタカナ) is a compact form of Katakana that takes up half the width of normal characters. It was originally used in older Japanese computing systems and gives text a retro or technical aesthetic.
Will the combining marks break my text?
The 'Safe' and 'Bold' tier styles are reliable across modern devices. Combining marks (underline, overline, strikethrough) work on most platforms but may display differently on older systems. We mark these as 'Bold' tier.
Is this tool free?
Yes, completely free with no registration. All processing happens in your browser — your Japanese text is never sent to any server.
Does it support mixed Japanese and English text?
Yes. Latin characters in your text will be converted to fullwidth form in relevant styles, while Japanese characters are styled appropriately for each variation.
What is the Small Kana style?
Small Kana converts regular-sized kana to their small form variants (e.g., あ→ぁ, ア→ァ). Not all kana have small forms, so unmatched characters remain unchanged.
